What Does IRATA Certified Mean?
IRATA - the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association - is the internationally recognised body that sets the standards for safe rope access work worldwide. Being IRATA certified means a technician has been independently assessed and proven competent to work safely at height using rope access techniques.
There are three levels of IRATA certification:
- IRATA Level 1 - supervised rope access technician
- IRATA Level 2 - rope access technician able to work with less supervision
- IRATA Level 3 - supervisor level, responsible for planning and overseeing operations
All Prime Access technicians hold current IRATA certification and are assessed every three years to maintain their status. As a full IRATA member company, we are also subject to regular audits to ensure our operations meet IRATA's strict requirements.
Why Choose an IRATA Certified Contractor?
Choosing an IRATA certified rope access contractor gives you assurance that:
- All technicians have been independently assessed for competency
- Work is carried out in accordance with the IRATA International Code of Practice (ICOP)
- Safety systems, rescue plans and equipment meet internationally recognised standards
- Your project is in the hands of trained, accountable professionals
Not all rope access contractors hold IRATA membership - it's always worth checking before appointing a contractor for work at height.
